Our Programs

At Vine & Branches, we love families! We believe children are a gift from God and therefore we take our responsibility to educate the whole child very seriously. Our school philosophy is built upon the following fundamentals:

  • Our programs nurture social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills that prepare children for excitement about learning and establish good school experiences laying a vital foundation for future learning.
  • Our curriculum encourages play-based, hands-on, multi-sensory learning and fosters a sense of wonder for nature and the environment.
  • Our facility offers a welcoming, safe, state-of-the-art, nurturing environment.
  • We build respectful and meaningful relationships among our staff, children and families.
  • Our environment builds confidence, gratefulness and resilience.

We offer a blended curriculum that incorporates developmentally appropriate activities and gives us the flexibility to individualize the learning process. We follow best practices in early childhood education, brain development research, and the principles of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). On a daily basis, children will enjoy age appropriate activities including problem solving, literacy, outdoor play, art, music, math and science.

Infants

At Vine & Branches, our Infants are nurtured by loving, experienced teachers. Our caring teachers will begin our high quality program with our youngest infants at age 6 weeks old with a foundation in building confidence, trust and security.

Responsive caregivers will use typical developmental milestones to structure lessons in language development, basic sign language, gross motor skill development and fine motor skill development. Infants will learn trust as caregivers play, sing, snuggle, and read to them. Caregivers play lap and finger games, peek-a-boo games, engage in movement and rhymes and conversations that give value to language. Each day includes outdoor time in the buggy or sitting on a soft, safe surface in the shade.

Creating an easy to follow schedule for your child is a crucial way we partner with parents to establish a great foundation for continued learning. A daily communication from teachers will include all of the special developmental milestones, daily routines, and recommendations to bring the learning home.

Toddlers

Toddlers at Vine & Branches focus on language development and building solid, trusting relationships with their teachers. These little ones are exploring textures, sounds, words, rhymes, crawling, walking, dancing, listening and taking cues from the activities of peers and their caregivers.

Toddlers are movers!

In the classroom and outdoors they will be able to climb, sit, run or find a cozy spot to observe. Some will be ready to focus attention and listen to a book being read, others will move from center to center and activity to activity. Daily time outdoors includes more exploration of the textures, temperatures, sounds and feelings found only in nature.

Language skills are encouraged with books, conversations, songs and rhyming finger plays. The program also continues to build a deeper knowledge of sign language as the children start to communicate with peers, teachers and their families.

Teachers begin moving children from individualized infant schedules to help them adapt to the world around them, partnering with parents to develop routines that work at school and at home. Daily communication from teachers includes developmental milestones, daily routines, and recommendations to bring the learning home.

Two Year Olds

Our two year olds love learning and exploration! We delight in their strong march toward independence and encourage trying new experiences.

With every, ”No!” comes a step toward understanding who they are and what they can do.

Twos begin to relate to peers as “friends”; they recognize feelings. Teachers will label those feelings to help children find language for and understand the actions that follow feelings.

Classrooms provide opportunities for little hands to freely experience the world around them. Through centers in language development, literacy, art, dramatic play, music, math and science, our two year olds begin creating a foundation with a love for learning. Outdoor spaces specifically designed for this developmental stage allow for multiple outdoor learning environments and important social-emotional experiences.

Daily communications from our loving and experienced teachers round out this program, offer details about routines and help continue the learning at home.

Three Year Olds

Three year olds at Vine & Branches enjoy a play-based curriculum with the goal of educating the whole child. Through a combination of child initiated and teacher directed activities, children learn to relate with peers in a small group as well as a large group setting.

Our preschoolers are also learning problem solving, literacy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts as well as social-emotional skills. Concepts are taught through a project approach and through activities and games which are developmentally appropriate.

Though there is more structure to the day, it does not inhibit a spontaneous trip to the playground, a walk to look for bugs or time to feel the snow or splash in puddles!

Four Year Olds

The focus in our Four Year Old classroom is Kindergarten readiness to prepare the students for their upcoming transition to elementary school.

Our program strengthens the education of the whole child through relationship building, an accepting atmosphere, a schedule that offers both a pattern and flexibility, decision making opportunities and a sense of security and safety. Being able to function in a group, to make friendships, handle conflict and respect the teacher as a leader is crucial to fitting into the expectations of any kindergarten.

Our pre-K children are also learning problem solving, literacy and STEM concepts as well as social-emotional skills. Concepts are taught within the context of a project, an activity, a game or a fun experience which is developmentally appropriate.

School Age Children

Our school age programs are theme based and developed with fun in mind! Students arrive at our school after a long day at their local elementary school ready to play and experience our fun, STEAM curriculum. We are still accepting new enrollments for our Before & After School Care program.

Plus, we offer holiday camps and drop-in days so parents don’t have to worry about finding care for their children when Loudoun County Public Schools are closed for teacher work days and holidays!
